Notes: Owned 3 good farms in AR, one in Ripley County, MO. Sold the two
Fulton Co AR farms for confederate money, which was worthless at the
end of the war.
Volunteered 16 JUN 1861 at age 35 in Lawrence Co. AR to serve 1 year,
but had to serve an additional 2 years. He was assigned to 7th Arkansas
Infantry Regiment, Captain Shavers Company I.
Wounded at Battle of Shiloh 6 APR 1862 on his 38th birthday
(gunshot wound to the abdomen; he was discharged from service two months
later, considered to be permanently disabled.) He was reported as being
killed in action, and his family was very surprised when he arrived at their
house in Ripley Co MO late one night in the Fall of 1862.

Martha THORNTON's father, Reuben, was a wagon maker from S. Carolina,
born 1807. Her mother, Amanda was born 1816 in TN.
